Microsoft this week launched a new plug-in for Firefox that allows its proprietary media player to run on embedded web page scripts on the Mozilla browser.
The plug-in will be available as a download when Firefox users log on to a site that integrates a Windows Media Player (WMP) ActiveX script.
Firefox, once an enthusiast-only browser disregarded by Microsoft, has been gaining ground on Internet Explorer. At the #2 spot, Firefox currently holds about 14% of Internet browser market share.

Download the plugin from http://port25.technet.com/pages/windows-media-player-firefox-plugin-download.aspx
I wonder why the news was reported late by sites since this plugin was released on March 29, 2007.

Even after installing WMP plugin sites will continue reporting to download Quicktime...I think its time now for sites to update code. Because one such site reported to download Quicktime while the video ran smoothly below. :p

Nope, flash is. Quicktime format & codecs are age old. H.263 never cought up to the web.

well obviously i meant formats that wmp n Quicktime both can play then i would prefer WMP to play them , also with WMP it is possible to play Quicktime videos in WMP coz it then uses quicktime codec as the backend , and in case of my system WMP is Much better in performance than the quicktime plugin
