My System Configuration is mentioned below:
System Manufacturer: "INTEL_"
System Model: "D865GBF_ Model 2004"
On-Board Video memory: "64Mb"
System Type: "X86-based PC"
Processor: "x86 Family 15 Model 2 Stepping 9 "
"GenuineIntel ~2793 Mhz"
BIOS Version/Date: "Intel Corp. BF86510A.86A.0060.P16.0404121116, 4/12/2004"
SMBIOS Version: "2.3"
Boot Device: "PATA1 80GB \Device\HarddiskVolume1"
Total Physical Memory: "Slot1 DDR1 256.00 MB"
I know that Windows vista will NOT run on my System, until I upgrade the system. If I will change only the below mentioned items in my system, will Vista run on it?
1):- One DDR1 RAM of 256Mb, ie; upgrade from 256Mb to 512Mb.
20:-One 256Mb Graphics Card, ie; upgrade from Onboard,64Mb to 64+245= 317Mb.
One dealer told me that I have to change my D865GBF Motherboard and also Family 15 Model 2 processor to Vista compitiable. I know that my board is NOT Vista Compitiable, but if I upgrade the RAM to 512 Mb and VideoCard to 256Mb, will'nt Vista run on my computer?
Also what will be the LOWEST cost of the Upgrade, ie; RAM & AGP VideoCard?

With ur config u can easily run the Home Basic edition of Vista, however , don't expect to see aero on it but maybe u could as u would be upgrading ur graphics but then it would be slower!

:rofl :D
Yo, Intel 865G & above chipsets are officially supported by Intel for Windows Vista, means there are official & proper drivers for it. No need to upgrade the CPU & motherboard, just get 1 GB RAM & A Geforce 6200 graphics card with 128 MB RAM as minimum. If you have the budget then go for AGP Geforce 7300GT with atleast 128 MB RAM.
With 512 MB RAM & a graphics card, Vista will run fine but 1 GB is recomended these days anyway. 865GBF has 4 RAM slots so you can increse RAM easily.
I m right now using it on 865GBF motherboard with 1 GB RAM & Geforce FX 5900XT graphics card.
The lowest config I have installed Vista home basic is Pentium 4 2.4 GHz with Intel 845GEBV2 motherboard with onboard graphics & 512 MB RAM. It runs fine with the default drivers in Windows Vista for the chipset etc.

:D You all talking about the lowest configuration??
Check this out:
Intel Pentium 4 Processor 1.7GHz
VIA VT8233A Motherboard
PC133 512MB SDRAM (480MB after sharing)
Onboard S3 ProSavageDDR 32MB Graphics (Shared)
Samsung SV4012H 40GB PATA HDD
LG HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GSA-H55NI have used the following operating systems on this PC:
Windows 98 Second Edition
Windows NT
Windows 2000 Professional
Windows XP (Build 2600) with Service Pack 2
Windows Vista Starter Edition
Windows Vista Home Basic Edition
Windows Vista Ultimate EditionAs the topic of discussion goes, Windows Vista works "OK" on this configuration. As the different versions of Vista are concerned, Ultimate worked better than the Basic and Starter versions, I still can't configure how???
Anyways my ancient PC is still running fine. Upgraded it with a XFX GeForce 6200 256MB AGP Graphics Card recently to play some games. I am also going to buy a 512MB SDRAM so that my RAM increases to 1GB and I can turn on Aero Graphics (My current card supports Aero) on this ancient PC...:D:D
