installin soft in ubuntu

i need help to install blender, xmms etc. in ubuntu 6.06
when i click on Applications>Add/Remove... a window appears in which when i try install blender or xmms etc. an error msg is

displayed saying:

“ 'blender' is not available in any software channel

The application might not support your system architecture.”

can any of u guys help me out........

you need to add software channel to your sources.list file. visit this two site. you will get full walkthrough. :-)

And are you using 64 bit ubuntu? Or any other platform than x86?
