hi.......

i am new to linux and i am using bsnl broadband connection(DSL Modem) via USB... so please send me command to be typed in terminal so that linux can detect modem........help me out please.......

My modem is UT300R2U ADSL Router.......

Sorry,U need a LAN card in Linux for this to work.

i missed out one thing that my internet connection can work via ethernet as well...........
and please tell me why do i need a lan card??

ethernet- means u got lancard.:).in fedora u can use "system-config-network-druid" command to make a new aDSL connection.also u can set connxn from a terminal using adsl-setup command.
anyways to make sure,u got a LAN card,try this cmd in a terminal.
~#/sbin/ifconfig
whether it lists the interface(s) ethx or so.
besides using usb driver got stability issues.so lancards are preferred even with windows os.

i don understand which connection can work on modem as well as in lan???

this is about aDSL usb modem/router used in distributing Broad Band internet.
Dial up external-modems are very well supported in GNU/Linux.dont worry;)
but cant get ur question properly:p

First connect ur ethernet properly and then goto : system>administration>network > click "new" > ethernet connection > and fill in the static ip and dns entries!
Ur done.
