I have a 80gb external HDD conencted thru USB...now I'd like to be able to copy/paste photos & movies etc in that HDD and still be able to access it by both Win XP & Open Suse 10.2.
1. is that possible.
2. if yes how?

Just connect the hard drive in Linux and your desktop will auto mount it...No problems. I would recommend formatting it into FAT32 instead of NTFS as the support for former file system is more mature then the latter one.

I dunno about windows having any compatibility problems with fat32 format done by linux. Therefore I advice to format the hdd from windows => fat32. Normally the disk is not shown by windows, but is recognized as a hdd. So u have to partition is from the "Disk Management" in windows and partition it! After that its just a plug n play in both windows n linux!
