Does anyone have nforce3 based [ASUS K8N] motherboard.
for a AMD64 754pin 2800+
considering it wont require more than 2 usb, lan is not much req but as an option, i think 2 sata ports are sufficient.

ASUS ?
did someone say ASUS ?
i heard ASUS :D

theres no need to ask
ASUS= blindfold trust for mobos
go for it
ASUS is amongst the top performers for every mobo
i will push my fanboyism to the extent to say that ASUS forms a standard by which every mobo should be compared before being bought !
i could praise ASUS more .. but i think u get the point
ever since ive got brand info ive never looked back from asus
my last 3 pc's have had asus bards and my first assembled has asus board and an ASUS gpu .. riva tnt 16mb as i can remember :D

it makes a hell of a diff boss
actually the idea is very old... picked from the 3dfx voodoo series which nvidia had acquired
now its back in a new form

SLI technology is awesome guys. You need to experience it to feel its power.Words fall short to explain the experience.

SLI is kinda usless if u dont have the processor to match the cards. Also Nvidia doesn't have SLI profiles for most of the newer games so say if a game like FEAR is released and Nvidia haven't added a SLI profile for it;then only one card will be used which kinda destroys the purpose of SLI. And given Nvidia's crappy driver cycles (Lotsa non WHQL drivers leaks ) i dunno what to say right now .............

Nvidia sez "We're working on it" ! And that is after most hardware enthusiasts and geeks have blindly placed their faith into SLI and purchased the h/w with their hard-earned money.

PS: No offence meant to anyone.

Well U see SLI has two modes of operation AFR (Alternate Frame Rendering) and SFR (Split FR), but games are which mode is to be used differs from game to game. Also if a certain mode is used in a game, Nvidia has to test out the whole game so as to chk for bugs and issues. Also if the drivers don't find a SLI profile for a particular game it doesnt use SLI mode at all, which means only a single card is used. Right now Nvidia only have profiles for 12-15 games and some benchmarks ( heheh ! they dint forget abt synthetic benchies). So for the rest of the games the cards dnnt work in SLI. Unless Nvidia doesn't make quick WHQL driver releases like ATi this SLI thing cud be in a whole lot of mess.

hey ASUS SK8N is a gr8 mobo based on NForce3 pro 150 which has some technological limitations like lack of pci/agp lock, no native gigabiit ethernet, no native support 4 sata etc. else it is a very good mobo 4 940-pin FX and opteron processors. infact u can get a opteron 2.6 ghz processor 4 less than fx-55. (not much less)
