Get Steam here: http://www.steampowered.com/index.php?area=getsteamnow
Drag that dll into c/program files/valve/steam/steamapps/youremail/half life 2/bin
It probably didnt work because you didnt have steam. Install steam and then install hl2

I did not face any problem like that. I thought of getting the original game after it said that i need a internet connection to download the full game. I said no way with my connection.
I just do not know why is should i pay 1500 and it comes with 6 CD and yet it need a net to download the full game.
It kinda sucked.

No the net connexion is just for Decrypting the GCF files which are encrypted so no download

Which is basically same thing. I heard it takes lot of time to decypt the files.
But sadly the anti-piracy tech was big failure

What are u saying ???
Steam is now a really good service and has overcome his early connexion hiccups.
Nowadays many developers are releasing games thru steam if u did not know
So it has certainly turned out to be a success.
I just preloaded Jade Empire and i am dying to play it
