Once I posted a method to reset BIOS Settings to default using registers:

http://www.thinkdigit.com/forum/showpost.php?p=188679&postcount=8

May be it'll also work for u.

Also following site can help u:

@saipradeepg
The post which I mentioned, contains the code to reset BIOS to default settings and it'll also reset the password.

Opening the cabinet and removing the BIOS battery is the best option to reset the password. In your case, if you don't wanna do that, then u may try back door BIOS passwords. All standard Players use that. Compaq was using "Compaq" as backdoor BIOS password. I am not sure about HP Compaq. Give a try. But give it only once, else you may end up blocking the BIOS.

Try CmosPwd (http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/CmosPwd).
