View Full Version : Boot Vista after XP Installation....

i earlier had Window XP in my C: ...later i installed Win Vista on D: ...both of them worked fin.
But recently i reinstalled XP on my C: .... and now i cant see vista in my boot menu.... hv tried editing boot.ini in Xp but no use. Please help how can i get my Vista back though its still there in D:\...

Just boot using Vista DVD and then click on "Recovery mode" (or something like that option). It'll give u options to reinstall the Vista boot loader. ;)

see if u install xp first then vista it is ok,But if u install vista first then xp it will not show any boot for vista during that installation.It happens because Vista does'nt use boot.ini to boot rather it uses "BOOT manger" to boot all the operating system.So we can say that it is an upgrade version to handle all the boot requirements in vista.
And If u install vista,Vista drive will take its default drive as c:,even if u installed in d: drive.
So do a vista installation first then xp or u can upgrade xp to vista.
