I second that.
Check if the drive is in warranty and get a replacement. Also check if the cable is ok. else your may need some repairs.

power caliberation errors suggest only two faults:
faulty or fake or substandard media
second dying drive. I also had a samsung it showed power caliberation error one day and died on me suddenly.
IMHO you have to change your drive.

Power calibration error comes when the drive cannot provide subsiquent power for writing or the disc cannot be determined by write head correctly,
Your Drive is Dying so make a relacemant if its under warranty or get it repaired by a mechanic (cost in service center rs. 200 for servicing and power IC rs.120) total of 320/- and your drive is back again.
and if you can spend then purchase a combo or DVDRW

listen 1st u calm down
and 2nd install nero 5.5 or install the version of nero which was given to at the time u bought ur writer
and 3rd try writex media i think they are good
if nothing happens
straight away go to samsung service centre and bang the writer on their heads.

I am answering this same question in this forum for the 5th time .
Answer is sell the stupid drive(as i did), if no one is buying it throw it in garbage where it belongs. Last thing to do is the take a oath of never ever buying a 'Samsung' optical drive.
