hOW 2 SETUP A lan BETWN 2 pcS

We have 2 PCs
1 AMD Athlon 3000+,512 MB RAM, MSI RS482M2-IL (ATi) n other P4 1.6 GHz, 512 MB RAM, 865G Chipset MB. We need 2 connect it in LAN, We have a lan wire with RJ-45 Connectors wth d orientation of wires opposite 2 each other on both sides. Can you specify d procedure step by step.
We soon will b holding a lan party with 6 pcs wth one p3, 4 p4, n mine. Can v make d p3 one d server. Can u explain d procedure for this setup too.

for lan party u need a switch or a hub.......but for 2 pcs u can use lan wire only...... search the forum i had already posted the detailed procedure.

for connecting two pc you only need is a CAT5 cable two connetors and a crimping tool to join two conetor to the cable...

1. For conncting two PC CROSS CABLE is needed to b prepared.
2. peel wire from both the end and you will get 4 pairs of wire inside the cable namely BROWN WHITE ,BROWN,GREEN WHITE, GREEN.,BLUE WHITE, BLUE , ORANGE WHITE ORANGE...
3. For preparing Cross cable you can use predefine color codes EIA/TIA 568 A ,568 B combination
4. else all you have to do is to arrange wires in any color series say
ORANGE WHITE, ORANGE, GREEN WHITE GREEN, BLUE WHITE, BLUE BLUE, BROWN WHITE BROWN on one side and on other side GREEN WHITE, BLUE BLUE, ORANGE WHITE , GREEN, BLUE WHITE, ORANGE , BROWN WHITE BROWN
Striclty..
5. crimp the wire with a connector without disturbing the order of wires...
6. remember to keep the notch of connector down towards earth while inserting wires in connector 4 crimping....
7. now ur CROSS CABLE is ready..
8. connect to the two PC.
9. assign an IPs of same network A, B , C to both pc and ping the IP of other PC from Ur system.. if +v response come then ur LAN is established.

The options are many AKA USB wire bridge, blue tooth lan ,UTP cat 5.0 cross cable , but the best will be to buy a 4 port or 8 port Switch..... Intex price at 900 bucks and D link at 1300 bucks..... Its a good investment as you can easily share an ADSL internet connection......... Play games and whatmore will have an option to connect two more computers as generally freinds come over with a laptop if you know what i mean..........

One more option u can use Parallel Lap Link cable to have a fast connection b/w two PC...
