Digital Restrictions Management (DRM) is a technology that affects all users of computers, media players, mobile phones and other devices.

"'Your devices don't trust you!' is the basic message of DRM. In fact they trust you so little that they will not even tell you that they put you under surveillance," says Joachim Jakobs (http://mail.fsfeurope.org/pipermail/press-release/2006q4/000157.html), FSFE's media coordinator.

“If consumers even know there's a DRM, what it is, and how it works, we've already failed,” says Peter Lee (http://www.economist.com/displaystory.cfm?story_id=4342418), an executive at Disney.

"DRM technologies are based on the principle that a third party has more influence over your devices than you, and that their interests will override yours when they come in conflict. That is even true where your interest is perfectly legitimate and legal, and possibly also for your own data," explains Georg Greve (http://www.economist.com/displaystory.cfm?story_id=4342418), FSFE's president.

It is strongly recommended to watch this video debate (http://www.rehash.nl/hollandopen/rawtapes/ho-license_drm/ho-license_drm.mp4) at Holland Open on DRM to get basic understanding the issues surrounding DRM (understand clearly to such a level for you to explain it to your friends)

DRM is the greatest sin an Enduser will feel.people, especially windows users and Vista fanboys should be educated about this and other security and privacy breaching's from America's monopolistic software vendor and others.

According to Torvalds, both DRM technology and GPLv3 will cause "lots of arguments" but in the bigger scheme of things, neither will stop good technology from prevailing.

DRM will face death like the starforce copy protection. When ppl dont like something , they really mean it.

DRM will be dead soon.

^^ Hope it will be.but these measures are all backed by a powerfull business lobby in America and Europe
who will listen and care for common man's rights on his PC/OS:rolleyes:
Microsoft is leading this sin with DRM incorporated to its latest windows Vista OS and the unsuspected users will buy it for no use!

For DRM to die, people should be well informed about it and they should raise a voice against it. That's the motive of this DRM elimination crew, make people aware of it. Not to wait for people to become aware. Till then it might be too late.

DRM was a still born baby and its proponents r trying to make pigs grow wings and learn flying but DRM will only be successful when pigs fly
