my current system configuration is P4 1.7Ghz on Intel D845GLAD M/B having 128Mb DDR RAM and a 40GB HDD.
Firstly, i plan to upgrade it with a new AMD processor (specifically AM2) and a compatible motherboard, 512Mb of RAM and a 80GB SATA HDD. Please recommend a suitable AMD processor, motherboard and which HDD and RAM Brand to go for. I would be using the PC for multimedia viewing, a little video and photo editing and casual gaming. I live in Bangalore so if possible please mention the individual prices for each component as in bangalore (ie, AMD Processor, m/b...and so on)

Secondly, i heard that AMD Motherboards donot have integrated graphics so does that mean that i have to buy a Graphics Card for viewing. If so please mention the name and Price of an good entry level graphics card having atleast pixel shader 2 because i heard that newer games require atleast pixelshader 2. The graphics card may or may not lie in my budget (ie, Rs.15000).

many AMD boards have onboard graphics and many of them esp. from nVidia and ATI are much better than the Intel onboard ones

If u dont want to buy a graphics card then buy a motherboard with Nvidia 6150 or ATI X200 onboard card
