Novell will support Microsoft Office's Open XML file format in its version of OpenOffice by the end of January. Microsoft and Novell have wasted little time in demonstrating there is real work being done as part of their recent Linux interoperability pact. Just a month after the historic deal between the companies, Novell said today it will support the proprietary document format in Microsoft Office 2007.

well microsoft seems have woken up to the fact that linux is here to stay.

Yes it has woken up to the fact and is therefore trying everything it can to pull it down somehow  We will soon know the real reason behind this agreement between Novell and M$

Yeah, the real reason for this agreement is to pull Linux down!!! That's M$ tactics.
Also by supporting MS's Open XML file format in OpenOffice.org, M$ can sue Novell
later for patent infringement or other violation!!!

M$ and Novell has agreed that they will not sue each other or each other's users for patent violation. So in effect that means that except Novell, they can sue all other Linux companies which they will try to do one day. So if there is only one company left with Linux, M$ can crush it easily anytime!!
