According to wikipedia: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AM3) AMD has confirmed that AM3 processors will work in AM2 motherboards; Which means that an AM2 motherboard would run the latest cpu's for rhe next 3 years
So if one buys a decent am2 mobo with PCI-E( Rs.6000) + a cheap 3000+ cpu (Rs 4000) ,
and after two year in 2008-09 when all those multi-cores AM3 cpu are-there, one could simply swap only the cpu for another cheap upgrade giving decent performace for the next 4 years!
is there any problem with the above setup? One thing that comes to mind is, maybe amd 3000 won't last (give acceptable performance) till 2008.
Any other compatibility problems that I am missing ? and exactly how good(or bad) is amd 3000 for running vista/xgl?
