Hi
My children wants to use the net for browsing school websites, they are very young 4-8 yrs old. how can I protect them from porn/abuses.

there are a lotta blockers.. but as they said it in the "digit review" if your childern really wanna watch porno then you wont be able to stop them

but i dont think an 8 year old will be able to crack a sophisticated content blocker

then again we dont know your if your kid's a a prodigy hacker. so parental supervision is better

use an blocker. and fill in the 'block site with words ' are with all the possible bad words u can think of.
n keep the school websites as ur default site and othere sites that ur keep open as favs n make ur kid open sites frm favs only. nway 8 yr kid wont trouble u much abt the freedom of use !!

do these things; it will block generally all web-trash.

1) download an 'ideal' hosts file from this place (http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm) . unzip it and replace ur host file situated in ur C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC folder, with this one. then make it 'read-only'. Hosts Manager (http://www.aldostools.com/hosts.html) is a good tool to have on ur pc to manage the hosts file.

2)download 'ZonedOut' from here (http://www.funkytoad.com/content/view/15/33/). it can Add, Delete, Import, Export,
Build a WhiteList and do More. it now includes Restricted, Trusted and
Intranet Zones". it is an excellent too just 185kb. add delete as u
desire.

then download IE-SpyAd For ZonedOut from this site (http://www.spywarewarrior.com/uiuc/resource.htm) . its is a simple registry patch that adds a long list of known porn-sites, cracksites, advertisers, marketers, and spyware pushers to the restricted sites zone of ie.

use zonedout for adding this list easily.

3) imo, cybersitter (http://www.cybersitter.com/) is a great anti-porn / parental-control app ! but its paid.
