you can easily remove this with RemoveWGA 1.2
download from http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/RemoveWGA.shtml
Official Method by Microsoft

First Method

1. Lauch Windows Task Manager.
2. End wgatray.exe process in Task Manager.
3. Restart Windows XP in Safe Mode.
4. Delete WgaTray.exe from c:\Windows\System32.
5. Delete WgaTray.exe from c:\Windows\System32\dllcache.
6. Lauch RegEdit.
7. Browse to the following location:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\
Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify
8. Delete the folder ‘WgaLogon’ and all its contents
9. Reboot Windows XP.

Note: With this method, you may be prompted to install WGA Notifications again which can still be unselected.

well illegal or not, friend, it can be quite irritating. the wga removal tool has been posted on a reputed and legit site like softpedia and it has been dscsd in reputed fora like wildersecurity, malwarehelp, etc.

i had also posted a link/thread about wga and the wga removal tool when it was launched.

so for now, follow above drsethi's advice; and promise urself, that when u can, u will buy original xp/sw :-) in future !

No I meant. I have heard that if you possess a pirated copy of XP, MS gives you a key for discounted price but no XP CD along with it. Maybe I have got it wrong.
About the prices of XP I have no clue whatsoever.

Dear gofeddy
Install Windows vista beta/rc Free till June 2007. Really better than xp.
You can also switch to Linux. Nowadays Linux e.g. SUSE 10.1 Remastered is quite easy. I can send you CDs of Linux free.

I have checked the site. it is for 120 days only.
I think they are providing free CD also
https://oms.one.microsoft.com/anonymous/Winxpx64eval523/en-us/OM/CI/CustomerInfo.asp
But in my opinion Vista is far better than xp. It is BEST OPTION till June.
