According to the Windows Vista Team Blog, the compact packaging is made out of plastic and is designed for long-term protection and storage of the software. Microsoft's Nick White also indicates that the new packaging will be carried over to future Microsoft software releases.

These guys really know how to market their products. Really attractive packaging. BTW is there any comparison grid/table available comparing all the versions of Vista and MS Office 2007? Also, whats up with dual prices?

u hav to shell out money if u want the pro or premium software...so theres no point in cursing microsoft. For a home user Home or student versions are more than enough and r also not that expensive. n these will be anywayz comparatively cheaper in India.

$149 for the Office home edition sounds as a good deal to me. It should have word, excel, ppt. thats enough for most of us at home or college.

mav3, where r u from. Windows XP Home edition original here in Lucknow costs Rs 3,800 & XP Pro costs Rs 8,000

Even when it comes to original operating system, Windows XP Home or Vista Home premium is enough for 90% of the users, but just cos it's possible to pirate, people buy the best ones (XP Pro or Vista ultimate)

just checked, office 2007 student edition includes Word, powerpoint, Excel & onenote, but not outlook

Well, not for me then, however for most users it should be enough, as Vista includes Windows Mail & Windows calender, which is good enough for home usage. The contact list in Windows Mail (Vista RC1) can use some updates though
