Well i am in great distress.Whenever I try to open regedit the computer says i do not have permission to open it and restarts.There is no other user and i am the administrator.Also sometimes when i try to run winzip requiring installations,the copm. restarts. Please help me out.

try the restore option or try creating another admin ....

Run your system in safe mode & then run regedit and create another account with ADMIN

Run regedit in safe mode. Also, you can try copying the file regedit.exe to regedit.com in some other folder and seeing if it runs... If these methods work, you are probably dealing with a virus. Please inform us if you have performed a complete system scan with an antivirus and antispyware. Also, name the software used... Also, post a hijackthis report to further help isolate the problem...

Its a symptom of virus!

I'm sure the Tools -> Folder Options will also be disabled :)

Scan ur comp with a good anti-virus ;)

yaa...

i too hope that ur system is infected with virus....
scan with avast ... this is the best software 4 the removal of virus (as i think :) )

If you are getting an exe file of name of its containing folder and of size around 44 KB then you are infeted by Klone virus. Scan with AVG or Avast with latest Virus Definitions
