This problem has been bugging me for the past few days.
every 15 mins or so there's this message window which says

There is no script engine for the file extension *.vbs

Now as far as i gather the microsoft windows based script host is missing

How do i fix it??
Do i need to install windows again??
If i can fix it without installing then how??

Please help!!

maybe, just maybe, one of ur security sw like anti-spys or av may hv disabled it; since some viruses are delivered that way. which ones do u use ?

or perhaps ur registry keys have got corrupted. t
this may then help u

Go to Tools->Folder options in My computer, see File Extensions tab and set default action for vbs files to open with notepad... If possible, try to delete the run script option also...

Ok, I ran a check on google groups for this error and heres what came up for it...

http://groups.google.com/groups?client=opera&rls=en&q=There+is+no+script+engine+for+the+file+extension +*.vbs&sourceid=opera&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wg

The first link, http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.scripting.vbscript/browse_thread/thread/4c131e9594dcd1ca/1cc8459b323f7221?lnk=st&q=There+is+no+script+engine+for+the+file+extension +*.vbs&rnum=1#1cc8459b323f7221 seems to have some registry fixes that might solve your problem...
