why does windows sp professional suddenly starts up real slow. There is a long pause in the windows is starting up screen after booting,And it takes almost 3 minutes before showing the welcome screen. I did everything i could, including running in safe mode, and repaired.

go to
start -> run -> msconfig
see which items can u remove from startup
and also check
start -> run -> services.msc
look for services which are in 'manual' mode which are 'started' .. may be one of them may be causing a delay

i remember reading it in
30 min. expert of digit special booklet which came free with aug03 issue .

there they say how to make XP start up fast.

win xp can be used as a server too, so if u want to can disable all these stuff.

Have u noticed when u shut down it says " closing ur n/w connection " .

:arrow: msconfig again...remove unwanted processes..

:arrow: delete temporary internet files/clear history.

:arrow: disable XP themes...

:arrow: defragment the HDD

:arrow: If u have created some users,delete them except admin
