BIOS Password

I am using Intel 850MV Motherboard. I accidently forget my supervisor password to log in to BIOS. I tried removing the battery and starting the computer. I didn't work. How can i recover or delete that Supervisor Password.

Use reset button if avail. else try removing BIOS battery and reset jumpers. hope this will help.

Well.. Some BIOS dont lose the data even after removing the battery for a short period of time ..
You should remove the battery and short the jumpers (refer to your motherboard manual) and restore the battery after an hour or so ...

P.S. I haven't tried it with WinXP. It may not work as it's a DOS program.

PPS : I guess some people would say that usage of this kind of software is borderline between legal and illegal. It could potentially be used to do illegal cracking of passwords, but then MS Word could be used to write a terrorist threat or pornography. Or a screwdriver to break into someone's house.

Personally, I use it when someone buys a computer from a shop, gets fed up with the rotten after-sales service and comes to me with the warranty seal still intact.

He cannot go to Windows,man.....since he has lost BIOS password.Then how come he can run AWcrack or something.
There's also another software which works on most of the BIOSes called CMOSPwd,but u need to have atleast DOS running.

dude bios passwords are there to secure BIOS changes
this is not the BOOTUP BIOS password
its simply to protect the BIOS

In any case, though I have not done it myself, I see no reason why the tiny AW-crack program (less than 2kB) could not be copied to a Win98 boot floppy and run from DOS, even if the OS is XP only.

If this fellow has forgotten only the supervisor password, but remembers the user password then these applications can be useful.

I have read somewhere about a small command to be executed from the DOS prompt that would just delete the password. I had tried it successfully but unfortunately didn't note it down anywhere. Still I will try to find it. But don't do anything drastic. These forgotten passwords can be handled. :)
