Ok, there are some of us out there who have very little clue on what to do if they get stuck with a problem wrt their Digit Patron Accounts (those of you who have no idea of what this 'Digit Patron thing' is all about, check out the bottom of the last page of Digit and get tuned in!)

To know about the Digit Patron Program, from everything to anything, from forgotten passwords to username changes to redemption issues or then to whatever else bothers your sense of calmness in life, there is hope! :D
First control the urge to fire off emails to n number of people all over the place because that only adds to the delay for you to get a response and secondly, do the following:

Just log on to www.thinkdigit.com/digitpatron, click on the "Help" tab and send us a mail detailing your problem and leave the rest to us. We'd love to hear from you and help you of course. :P

I have already written to digit patron, regarding mail-d (user name)
change and i got reply that its not possible!! and i will have loose all points from that a/c :( :? :shock:

Also, as i had given my company mail-id, when i leave this company
the mail-id becomes useless. So i get to loose patron points. So i think its not even worth entering anymore. If i loose mail-id i loose everything.

Just one question to Digit Patrol Helpdesk.

Why are subscribers not getting automatic credit for patron? I feel that is something so obvious. Secondly, that will also stop one menace. There are a few newsstand owners who subscribe and then sell the copies in open market. No one bothers to read the words "subscriber copy, not for sale". If such copies do not have patron codes, no one will buy them!!

Any answers?

Well, for one, the Digit Patron Program is not specifically designed for subscribers. It is a program for all readers of Digit and that includes all our readers who buy their mags from the newsstand. It is a Program which is designed to reward the loyalists, the true Patrons of Digit, irrespective of whether they are subscribers or non-subscribers, both these groups of readers are treated at par.

Secondly, we would like to keep the criterion for membership to the Digit Patron Program completely voluntary.What this basically means is that we would want those readers (subscribers) who are truly interested in this Program to enrol themselves as Patrons rather than thrusting this onto every subscriber.

So, I hope you are now able to get a better understanding as to why the points procedure is a non-'automatic' system. :)

September is long gone and so are the codes for that month. Till the midnight of 31st Dec 2004, one can only enter codes for Dec, from the Dec issues only.

Yup, absolutely. All that you need to bear in mind is one Digit Patron account, one code. Which means you could have any number of accounts as you please as long as you have unique codes for each account. That's it. You cannot use one code for all the accounts. That would just be tooooo simple, won't it? :P

There is no provision to view currently how much points available to be redeemed !!! :( :shock: :?

It is very nice if you could make a thread for "Patron" instead of individual mail. So that everyone can see similar problems and avoid repeating mails and also if someone makes a good suggestion, may be people might approve and make similar request which you could incorporate.

And hope it is not to hide the problems by being viewed openly by all!!!

If they don't want it, they will not redeem the points or not register at all!! But I wonder who wouldn't subscribe for something in which they are likely to get a few free things. This is India. :D No one will miss anything that would increase the value for money. :) Automatic credit will save subscribers from the trouble of two things:
1. Going to the site and entering it
2. Credit miss in case they forget it. You can see the number of people asking for getting hold of missed credit.

Afterall, subscribers are the people who are not only loyal, but are also committed to the loyalty by paying in advance. Right? :)

Treat all at par as regards credit of 20 points per issue and also about items of redemption of points. Keep all of these same. Of course, it will be some task for Digit Team to link and consolidate both the databases. But it would then by very convenient.

There is no provision to view currently how much points available to be redeemedThere sure is a way. Just look around the page after you log in and enter points. Its a little small font, but it is surely there.

Digit u got this idea of patron from our feedback only. I started a topic " loyalty bonus for subscribers". we gave u such a great idea free of cost u cant make this system automatic. i know that its not a difficult job but u are just shrugging it off covering it up in the name of equality. plz do think about this we give u advance payments ensure ur sales so that u can experiment with "the new looks" without much risk. give us some credit.

I also suggest they start giving free subscriptions of Digit itself through the patron programme. for eg. they can give a 3mth sub for 250-300pts as it suits them. From where does ethics come here? If you have access to 2 copies, you should be allowed to enter the code twice. Simple.

Also, why most of the redeeming options include your old issues or of Computers Art Special. Now can you tell me if this is to reward loyal Digit readers why the hell you put your own old issues there? This is the most ridiculous thing I must say. I agree on the actual scenario of entering code of a copy you haven't bought yourself. It surely is unethical and I wouldn't do it (because it is unethical and because I don't care ;)). But then lots of things in life are unethical anyway. Isn't it? :)

It is nice to Seeee... Our beloved Digit introducing lot many schemes to make everybody the proud owners of some or few electronic/Computer gadget owners. But it should choose the right Supplier. Long back it choosed to offer DVD-RW. I too send the money (one among the greedy reader) to catch the offer. But till today, nearly 4 months passed. No sign of DVD-RW. Even I have send more than Half a dozen emails, to both Digit gurus and Tech pacific to no avail. Not even any reply from Tech Pacific. Now God only knows, When it will be delivered. Any body got any clue?....

Another quite pertinent point is that you have among the gifts, old issues
of Digit and some Specials & Skoar as well. But Don't u think that ppl
who are Loyal to digit and enrol in the patron programme will already
be in possession of those issues??? This is akin to rewarding Bhakts
with some more Bhakti instead of Prashad :twisted: :wink:


BTW whatz the point in keeping Brittanica as the Top Prize when you've

This month I bought my copy of the Digit late. But to my surprise, min my copy, the Digit Patron code sticker is not placed. The copy was sealed in the poly cover all right, and it so appears that the sticker was never affixed as there are no traces of the possibility of its having been removed!! So what now?

Check out some earlier replies. It is not possible to change your id. Of course you may start from scratch at a new id. No one stops you from doing that.

I too agree with the abovementioned ideas.....
There's a mag "Living Digital" which provides free acessories and goodies
free with their issues which can be used to spruce up the workspace
or are useful in one way or the other.

In DigPat Prog the oly useful thing is the Brittanica Encyclopaedia
and that too is available for 280 points....And I don't think anyone has
taken it till now.Unistal AV is of no use i guess......Regarding Skoar n
the Spl. issues of Digit, there may be very few takers......

So we hafta wait n see whether Byte Bhai Sees this thread and does the
necessary modifications.....

Hi, I like ur mag very much. ever since i purchased my first copy of digit in March 2004, i've discovered so many facts abt PC world. the one thing that is bothering me is about the genuinty of softwares distributed in CD & DVD. In ur latest issue there r 3 big games... not even a single is running in my pc after i installed them. flat out demo shows msg box " required dll file not found, reinstall" & even after reinstalling 2 times the same msg appears. i've installed in Win ME & Win XP but to no avail.
I've installed games like road rash, midtown madness, age of empires which r running perfectly, but why r these games not running :?:

My redemption also reached me well before time. One thing that bothers me is the lowest redemption is at 80 points viz ; previous issues of Digit. (No doubt, I redeemed a prev issue as i missed the August issue). So according to the name as many suggests, previous issues are not worth the name Digit Patron.
Its like you read the mag, ok redeem and read again.
So, coming to the point, a patron will require 4 months to redeem a gift.
4 months of patronship should be rewarded well man.
So, the idea of giving stuffs were cool. Thumbs up dude.
As then subscribers think they are the most loyal, it is unfair.
I think I am the first patron to buy Digit every month (no postal delays).
So, subscriptions dont make you loyal.
Its the loyalty you keep that makes you loyal.
So again enetring the code every month makes you loyal as you atleast show up ur loyalty once again by coming upto the loyalty showing ground viz; the digit patron program.
So, manual redemption is good and my current vote goes for manual redemption

However, I was totally disappointed after running the CD ...

The CD is an old one - Is Digit trying to dispose off old stock through Digit Patron? - it still mentions the old chip-india website.

It covers only MS Access and that too Access 2000 which is pretty old considering that it's been 5 years and there are 2 newer versions - XP & 2003 - available.

The level of info is at the newbie level at the start which is ok but it remains right there even at the end which is definitely not ok. There's not much that's not available in any standard Access book / tutorial for beginners.

There is no description of the gift available on the website to indicate that it covers only Access making one believe that it is about all the major database packages which is what made me request this title as I am keen on learning all about databases. There's so much more content you could've included esp. from the net.

I would prefer you take back this gift and give me something else.

However, I was totally disappointed after running the CD ...

The CD is an old one - Is Digit trying to dispose off old stock through Digit Patron? - it still mentions the old chip-india website.

It covers only MS Access and that too Access 2000 which is pretty old considering that it's been 5 years and there are 2 newer versions - XP & 2003 - available.

The level of info is at the newbie level at the start which is ok but it remains right there even at the end which is definitely not ok. There's not much that's not available in any standard Access book / tutorial for beginners.

There is no description of the gift available on the website to indicate that it covers only Access making one believe that it is about all the major database packages which is what made me request this title as I am keen on learning all about databases. There's so much more content you could've included esp. from the net.

I would prefer you take back this gift and give me something else.

My yearly subscription for Digit started last month.

When I went to 'Digit Patron's' site to enter my code it gave me error that the code is incorrect, despite serveral attempts with different combinations (I tried replacing '0' with 'O' and vice versa)

I wrote to you guys from there itself. It has been more than 20 days, the month is over, my code is invalid, and I have yet to receive a response from you guys. And this is just my first month!

Huh just bit surprised to know me not alone in disapointed user list!!!

I had claimed some things last 15th of month , i mailed Digit patron PPL many times , but no replies from them , then i had to mail at help@jasubhai.com about this things , suddenly i got reply from both DP and Help desk. They said they sent the gift , in next mail they said they were in process of sending gifts , its a week after i got last Email frm them , dont know if i will get gifts or not.

Truely speaking Digit has loosed Market share already and they are serviving due to subscribers who subscribed for 1 year or more.

My code worked properly this time. My grouse with Digit is that they should change the free gifts available.

I have collected 240 points and I dont feel like redeeming them for any gift. I mean with gifts like 2 years old Skoar mags, encyclopaedias and movie VCD's Digit has already given away free, old Digit specials and even older monthly Digits, what should I redeem my points for?

well this can be a good idea!!well who need digit magazines,as Regular digit reader have it in computer as pdf,and about the magazines cds,they contain old stuff ie like yahoo5.XX ,so it wont be useful today!!

This is much talked issue of gifts offered by Digit as Digit Patron.

Before starting, please consider my apology if same type of thread is already here. But I think such type of little bit thoughts are there in between of general discussion of Digit Patron.

But I want to make it more clear by this poll that what readers really want out of their valuable points of Digit Patron.

Items available as gift are:-

• Encyclopaedia Britannica 2004 (3 CD)
• Back issues of Digit
• Back issues of Skoar
• Digit Fast Forward - Databse
• Digit Special – Digital Music, Protect Your PC
• Art Special – Flash, Photoshop, Web Design, Illustration etc…
• Back issues of Network Computing


Consider this experience:-

Month/year I exact don’t remember, but a series of step-by-step tutorial of Macromedia Flash was published in Computer@Home (now magazine name is Living Digital) in three issues. I came across that issues lately, and forgot that particular months.

I made simple inquiry at their customer service by email to know particular month in which the tutorials were published. But by my pleasant surprise they sent me all three issues with CDs (in which that articles were published) absolutely FREE of COST. And at that time newsstand price of Computer@Home was Rs.85/-. Digit also can do and afford like this.

I mean to say that such type of back issues are not the gift to make waste of valuable Digit Patron Points, which are not of interest of majority, some exception will be there. Digit can offer some more valuable gifts to their readers (sorry – LOYAL READERS).

Somewhere said in “Digit Patron� topic that “This (Digit Patron) program is designed to reward the loyalists, the true Patrons of Digit�.

Instead of such type of gifts some of bellow mentioned gifts are most useful:-

• Pen Drive
• Keyboard
• Mouse (cheap optical can also be considered)
• 10 Blank CDs Pack
• Speaker / Head Phone etc & such type of other useful items...

So please post your views and be heard (if there is any scope for reader’s voice).

What Happened? Has Jasubhai Media gone bankrupt?

I have three problems with Digit for the last three months and nothing has been done yet.

1. Monthly Issues are always delayed/lost. Past two months I had to make STD calls to the Customer Dept of Digit and make sure the issues were delivered.

2. I have lost my digit patron points of one month due to the negligence of Digit Delivery Section. (This month Sept. is also on the verge of loss)

3. I am not going to say that here, as thats a minor problem, and I dont want the above two problems to be ignored due to this.

But why am I putting this here, on the forum?

Because I am not geting any positive response from Digit. So I want my fellow brothers to be careful of this fraudulent company called Jasubhai Media, and do not subscribe for any magazines from it.

I suggest, if u are looking for h/w stuff, go for online sites like www.anandtech.com and if you are a gamer cum programmer, then go for PCQUEST. They are much better in terms of content and quality.

I was frustrated... Fired all the hell out on digit.
Made an email to them regarding the problem. Made a post here.
It got worst in 2-3 dez wen things didnt work. Didnt get ne mail from them

But i logged in on 30th nite and found a new code sent by them.
Immediately logged in and entered my cide. Worked and earned 20 more pts.

u guys need to get some new stuff up otherwise it looks like a sham to sell some old copies of Digit. You could have plethora of electronic goods the same mp3 players, 256 MB mp3 player or anything like that. Whether it's 700 points or so is irrelevant. The idea is that u guys will sell lots of copies & for people like me there would be an incentive. I've 380 points at this point in time & don't feel the need to use it for anything.

The last reply from the "HelpDesk" was on 15 Dec 2004.
Most probabily they have forgotten about Digit "Patron" program and that shows in their service that many subscribers are yet to recieve their gifts and most codes dont really work.

Ok, there are some of us out there who have very little clue on what to do if they get stuck with a problem wrt their Digit Patron Accounts (those of you who have no idea of what this 'Digit Patron thing' is all about, check out the bottom of the last page of Digit and get tuned in!)

To know about the Digit Patron Program, from everything to anything, from forgotten passwords to username changes to redemption issues or then to whatever else bothers your sense of calmness in life, there is hope! :D
First control the urge to fire off emails to n number of people all over the place because that only adds to the delay for you to get a response and secondly, do the following:

Just log on to www.thinkdigit.com/digitpatron, click on the "Help" tab and send us a mail detailing your problem and leave the rest to us. We'd love to hear from you and help you of course. :P

I am a digit patron & subscriber for like a good 2 years now. n i must admit that it is one of the best magazines.

The only criticism i have of digit is in their Digit Patron program. Since the time i can remember the gifts that are available for redemption in the gifts section of Digit Patron are the same and have not been updated in a long time.

It feels more like that the guys at Digit want to get rid of junk that they have accumulated rather than give anything meaningful away to show their appreciation to the digit readers. I had even sent an email on the same subject , but never got a reply and the gifts have remained the same old **** ... :oops: :oops:

I have accumulated a lot of points but there is nothing worthwhile that is redeemable.

So please take this post as just a reminder that something must be done... Rest is upto DIGIT

u can definately change ur ID but ur points (that u hv earned by entering each month) But ur points from ur older id Will not be transferred to the new one. I guess this is the trend...

I had sent a email complaining to you about the wrong gifts that you guys had sent to me.But no body has replied till now.The email was sent about 3-4 weeks before.I wanted that gift on Database or something like that and you guys had sent me a full PC CD which I had got before after opting for it the last time. Morover to this fault, my points are also gone for nothing.The CD costs just about 60 points or so and that database thing costs 120 points or so. Please help.

I was a digit subscriber for more than 3 years. my subscription ended this feb 2006.
I redeemed my digit patron points for the encyclopedia. first i was told that my gift was delivered to my address when actually it wasn't. then after a few days they informed me that the gift is OUT OF STOCK! They returned all my points.
I redeemed all those points (and some more) again for other gifts. Its been more than 2 weeks now and I'm yet to receive any email confirmation from them. This is disappointing and I'm happy that I didn't renew my digit subscription this time. :)

Just one question to Digit Patrol Helpdesk.

Why are subscribers not getting automatic credit for patron? I feel that is something so obvious. Secondly, that will also stop one menace. There are a few newsstand owners who subscribe and then sell the copies in open market. No one bothers to read the words "subscriber copy, not for sale". If such copies do not have patron codes, no one will buy them!!

Very Good Idea. I support you. For subscribers it is not required to log in @ digit patron and put the code. It should be automatically. The patron code sholdnot be pasted on the subscriber's copy. I hope Digit will consider it.

I reuested a redemption of my point with ice age vcd 2002, on the 1st of april,and even a letter was sent by digit team approving my request,but no such move was made, and till now i have not recieved anything,not even an e-mail denying my request and submitting me a proper reason.Your site gurantees of delivery within 4 weeks of time but i havent seen any such action from ur side.Iam an interactive member of digit for so long but now i feel frustrated of your services. The Digit Patron i suppose was given to give Digit readers additional benefits.

But i am sorry to say that the gifts offered are outdated.

I dont understand why will someone redeem a back issue of digit if already subscribing.

The other gifts are also back issues like 2004 or earlier of network computing.Even the special issues of computer arts etc are old junk outdated issues

It is high time the gifts are changed or the digit patron be scrapped all together.

I have a suggestion that you could offer a subscription to digit or any other magazine of your sister concern like network computing etc but no old issues please. Say 3month subscription.

You can also give movie DVDs or Encyclopedias.

Or even gadgets like Cd pouches etc.

When the patron program had started, there used to be gifts for multiples of 5 (like 45, 55). Now, there are only gifts ending in zeroes. Unfortunately, I got struck with a ending 5 after redemption of one of my gifts. I'm not able to do anything with the five points. What shall I do with them when it is going to be a waste always?
Why shouldn't digit consider giving 5 more points for those with such probs?

Why any Digit reader will require books on Photoshop or Flash when the Fast Track series covers or will cover such topics.
Giving away past Digit issues is also futile as we are having it once a while as e-mags on Digit CD/DVD. Plus, reading about tech news of a year or more back is also not much fun.
