one of my friends have an usb dial-up modem.Its actually a CDMA phone.It uses a USB2SERIAL cable to dial up.In windows he had to install some drivers to dial-up.How can he connect to the internet from it in linux??
His linux versions are Ubuntu 5 & Fedora core 4

Ask the provider of the windows driver if he hsa a linux version too, else google your phone model along with specific terms to find up some results.

Did he try probing the phone using wvdial or kppp? If not, then ask him to do this now. The appropriate port should be something like /dev/ttyS0 (assuming that his modem/phone is connected to COM1 in Windows)

Its plugged to the usb port!!,not serial

What does lsusb say ? You can give the model no. might help.

I dont knw the exact model.Ill ask it from him.But the manufacturer is Qualcom

Manufacturer--Huawei
Uses a usb to serial cable to connect to the pc
