It isnt entirely safe to use. There are a hell lot of downloadable infections around which have a small filesize really. The actual file size of a movie say would be around 690~ MB, the virii form of it would be 1.05 MB. So trust your common sense and download only the larger files always! And nowadays its just filled up to the brim with porn, its useless to use it anymore IMO.

Limewire was good once, but now its become absolutely spam, just like Kazaa & other p2p networks.
Why dont you try Torrent network. Its the most popular p2p network around now. Its much safer and you get to control whatever you download. Even though it will take some time for you to get in collaboration with it, its worth the effort.

You could also try Ares for its better search filters.
you could also try multinetwork P2P softwares [search the forums].
But remember no network is goung to be CLEAN due to the nature of the system and how it works.

Best pick would be torrent networks, especially if your browser comes in built with torrent support!

Limewire is heavy on system too.

Instead try Cabos = it is low on resources but searches limewire network.

Hey, I think Limewire is a great p2p client, best I've used so far. All you have to take care of is the file size bcoz most of the times even if u would put in any word that doesn't even exist limewire would still show u some results!!! And those files will be viruses and trojans. So be careful of what u r downloading and just take care of the filesize for the file that u r going to download and u'll be fine.

files in limewire are mostly infected with worms & trojans, & usually have a size of 900Kb.......................try torrent
