i wanted to buy a phone primarily for listening to music. i know i know i can buy a stand alone music player but i want a gadget incorporating features of both a phone and a music player. i was thinking of buying the sony w800i/w810i/w700i. my price range is about 16k. if there are any other manufacturers which are offering better features than sony ericsson and are also in the same price range pls tell me along with a review.

For 16K W810 is the best choice for music. You won't get that sound in any other phone for 16K.

decide first that Symbian OR non-symbian
Symbian=3250 and a good headphone
non-symbian=w810i
BTW , w800i is discontinued.

Why don't you see that
w810i + iPod headphone > iPod headphone+Nokia3250
Nokia doesn't have anything on its own. From Bluetooth to everything, all tech are not their.

Why are you going for music phone when you have 16k in Hand. I would suggest you to get ipod nano 4GB and Motorola L6.
No music phone can ever match the music quality of ipod or any high end music player.
ipod nano features:
Holds up to 1,000 songs and full-colour album art
Only 9 x 4 x 0.7 cm and 42 grams
Bright 1.5-inch colour LCD display
Up to 14 hours of battery life(1)
Apple Click Wheel
Charges and syncs via USB
Accessory-compatible Dock connector
Completely skip-free playback
Works with Mac OS X or Windows 2000/XP
Plays music, podcasts and audiobooks
Holds up to 25,000 photos(2)
Syncs contacts, calendars and to-do lists
Plays wav, mp3, mp4, apple lossless, audible music formats.
L6 Features:
Ultra sleek sliver form with vivid glass color display
• Integrated 4x zoom VGA digital camera with auto-timer and multimedia photo album creation
• Video capture and playback with support of MPEG4, .3gpp, H.263 files
• Hands-free communications via Bluetooth wireless technology* and integrated hands-free speaker
• PoC for quick connections to one or many **
• MP3 and polyphonic ringtones with 22 KHz speaker and 24 channels
• Messaging via MMS* and Instant Messaging* via IM Wireless Village
• Preloaded & downloadable* games, wallpapers, MP3 ringtones, video clips, screensavers and animations
• Personal Information Management (PIM) functionality, Picture caller ID* and Internet access*
Both are so small in size that it makes less difference whether you carry single Sony Ericsson walkaman phone or ipod+L6. FYI, I am using these two and am extremely satisfied with the performance.

At computer warehouse, bangalore:
ipod nano 4GB: 14k
ipod nano 2GB: Rs. 11200/-
ipod nano 1GB: Rs. 8300k/-
Please check in your region's apple store (http://www.asia.apple.com/buy/reseller/service.html) for nano prices
In apple store(http://www.asia.apple.com/store/india/):
ipod nano 4GB: 15.9k
ipod nano 2GB: Rs. 12.7k/-
ipod nano 1GB: Rs. 9.7k/-
If you are going for nano, do not forget to get nano tube (skin that protects ipod from scratches). available in 3 colors. Price Rs.500/-
ipod price is less in 3rd party stores (like glasgow computers in bangalore) than in apple store. In a good store, you will get a 4GB ipod for atleast a 1000 bucks less.
Huge advantage with ipod nano is it has a huuuge list of accessories from pouch to Hi-Fi audio systems.
I say go for it.
Add nike+ ipod nano kit and you can log your jogging data. This kit in not yet released in India.
Link: http://www.apple.com/ipod/nike/
Nike+ipod:
The Sport Kit allows your Nike+ shoe to talk to your iPod nano. The sensor uses a sensitive accelerometer to measure your activity, then wirelessly transfers this data to the receiver on your iPod nano. This wireless sensor and receiver combination works exclusively with your Nike+ shoes and iPod nano to give you real-time feedback during workouts and let you track your performance on your Mac or PC.

If you want a music phone then nothing beats SE. Go for W810i as someone suggested in this thread.
BTW, Ipod is everrated and overpriced. ;)

Right. I have both iPod nano 2GB and w810i. To tell you the truth, w810 with SE handset sound best. Even iPod wid SE handset sounds better than iPod with its own handset.

Hi, i was also thinking of buying a w810i, only doubt i have is that in some forums it was mentioned that walkman series of phones produces a hissing sound at low volume levels,is it noticable in your phone?
^^ y do u want low volumes ..... keep some good songs as your ring tones and let every1 enjoy ......

He He He.... iPOD Nano 2 GB = 7,700 Rs.
iPOD Nano 4GB = 9,900 Rs.
iPOD Shuffle 1 GB = 4,500 Rs.
AFAIK, there is no iPOD Nano 1GB. It was present in the old generation model, which is no more in production.
Latest Prices at Hyderabad CTC.
I recommend the same idea as well. If you are satisfied with the 1GB Capacity, I wud say that u go for the iPOD Shuffle. U wudn't even know that u have it on you.
And, as far as a Mobile goes, u can buy any of the low cost models. as per your requirement.

Increase your budget by 1k and get a SE W830i. I think you get a 1gb card with it (i have a brochure which says so). Excellent sound quality, good cam and good all round features.
