View Full Version : Any one know AMANDA here ?

Hi all,
I have Linux rhel 4 installed on my server, I also have IBM LTO Ultrium 2 Tape Drive 3580-L23 Tape drive .
I want to install Amanda (The Advanced Maryland Automatic Network Disk Archiver) for Tape backup on my linux server can any one help me in this.
I have been to Amanda is official site http://www.amanda.org/docs it is too confusing for me.
I just what to know how to install and configure.

I have Xp as clients computer I have already configured SAMBA and it is working fine now how do I implement this tool.

PLS help me

You must install the dump package. Since it's not installed by default in Linux.
You can install the 'dump' package through the Package Manager in RHEL.

i have downloaded few rms from amanda sites :-
amanda-backup_server-2.5.1b2-1.rhel4.i386.rpm
amanda-backup_client-2.5.1b2-1.rhel4.i386.rpm
are thes your talking about ? than i have allreday installed the server one.

DUMP (http://sourceforge.net/projects/dump/) This is what he is talking about. Install dump via package manager that you use eg. yum.
