You can install packages in Mandriva Linux using 'Rpmdrake'. In the search field
type' xmms' & click on the search button. When the search results are displayed ,
select 'XMMS' & click on 'Install' button. This will install XMMS in Mandriva Linux 2006.
If you are new to Linux world , check this link for more details:

http://doc.mandrivalinux.com/MandrakeLinux/101/en/Starter.html/software-management-install.html

You can also download XMMS from here:
http://www.xmms.org/download.php
Choose the 'RPM' format, since Mandriva Linux uses 'RPM' format.

You will need to add extra repositories. See here http://easyurpmi.zarb.org/
And reading http://www.mandrivafaq.org/ will be help too.
