home cd player to mp3 player

hey geeks, i know my question is very basic and common and also might be outdated. but i really wanna know how to convert the home stereo cd player in to mp3 player. there is a small device that is added to the circuit board but i dont know how and where to fix it. i also wanna know where can i find it?
