Nokia Phones Nomenclature

Hello Guys,

It has been ages since I posted in the forum. But this time I have a question which has been going on in my mind since a long time...

How are the Nokia cellphones named?
I mean how are the model nos. assigned to the phones?
Is there any specific criteria or something like that?

Can somebody enlighten me on this matter please?

i think phones with similar platform(os) ..are in similar series and also similar features.....like the 11XX, 21XX , 22XX , 23XX and 26xx, 31XX / 32XX / 33XX / 34XX / 35XX/ 36XX, 51XX / 52XX and 55XX, 61xx /62xx / 63 xx / 65xx / 66xx / 68xx, 71XX / 72XX / 76xx, 82xx / 83xx / 88xx / 89XX, 9000 / 91xx / 92xx/ 9300/ 9500, Nokia BB5 Platform ....or the latest nokia N series....all phones under a series have somewhat similar features and same platform...

note X denotes any #(no)

Those stuff's are somewhat proportional with their cost too. .. Ha ha .

I think the above answer wasn't too explanatory...

I mean isn't that too much obvious, the groupings of the same platform.
And lemme tell ya that Symbian platform phones range from 32xx to 92xx...

Have any one noticed nokia is allergic to "4" ???
they did only one-3410 but soon changed it to 3315 or somthing...
r they afraid of "4"???

by the way,i did some research n found out that they do have a couple of models....JUST 2 or 3.....with "4" like 5140 & 6234.

hope u r enlightened now !!thank me if u r enlightened !! u r right thats the way it is example the 66 series has phones which are similar in features just a few changes in features in the same way if u see the 61 series also and offcourse the n seires which deals only multimedia fones
