can any one suggest which mp3 player i should go for . my budget is around 5000 and i want a branded one not the chinese player. and atleast 512 mb

Go for iAudio Cowon 512 MB player which will cost you Rs.5500 incl taxes. It is original and you will get warranty and everything. The sound quality of this one really superb. I am using one for the last one month and I am bowled over by that. For The 1GB, Rs.6500/. Lipap Systems, Goregaon is the firm which is the sole distributor for India.
