GNUrag 19-11-2004, 12:58 PM Check out the files inside this directory: /etc/X11/xkb/keymap/* these files, especially the file xfree86 defines the xkb keymap ... you might also want to read this excellent tutorial from Ibiblio http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/vectorlinux/docs/vl40/en_pdf/vl_admin_vasm_en.pdf kadal27 20-11-2004, 08:54 PM Thank you! I want to know about editing the keymap files or creating new keymap files with some keys for some text. i.e. for example if I press F1 it should type as TRICHY. Some other key should type Trichy <enter> Trichy. i.e. pressing a single key should give text + Pressing<enter> key+another text part. Is it possible? Please guide me.... (Formerly we used a private utility to use unix software from dos and that utility allowed all the above. Now our company (A PSU)shifted entirely to linux.) GNUrag 28-11-2004, 01:35 PM Ok.. I know some people who are into localization of GNOME... and then let you know abt your specific query ! |
