I have just placed an order for a one PC CD for Ubuntu 6(Drapper Drake), but only one thing is bugging my mind. I have an original Microsoft optical mouse. Will it respond to the mouse driver in Ubuntu ?

Dont worry..it'll mostly detect ur mouse, make sure in /etc/X11/xorg.conf mouse section select correct mouse model as "imps/2"

I was wondering that my Mouse is an original Mocrosoft mouse , so it might only respond to Microsoft drivers.

No, microsoft standard mouses are recognized as normal PS/2 devices and will run on all OSes, but if yourmouse has some special programmable button or such things it might not work unless you have the requisite drivers...

No, most of the time mouse are detected fine including Microsoft mouse. Sometimes, though USB mouse do give prolems. But, they can be configured with some trial and error.

No , I have a serial mouse. By the way...
I've ordered Ubuntu yesterday. Can you tell me how long it takes to ship a copy to India? By the way , will it support my Intel 845 GV chipset or will I need to get separate drivers for it.

It will take about a month or so. It took me a month when I had ordered. Your mobo will be supported no need of the drivers. And, I don't think your mobo manufacturer will give drivers for Ubuntu or for that matter anything other than Red Hat 9 or at the most Fedora Core.

Hey, I'm using Microsoft optical mouse & Keyboard. Ubuntu detects them very well.
No problems. So don't worry it won't be a problem.

Install Ubuntu first...IF u have any problems then we'll be glad to help.
But relax....u likely won't have any problems. One more thing: Ubuntu does NOT detect my serial mouse (and neither does Fedora etc.) but its VERY EASY to make it work. Let us know if u have problems. Btw www.ubuntuforums.org have a special subforum "Absolute Beginner Talk" for newbies. Check that out too.

Once Ubuntu is installed, u'll be given an option when ur PC boots whether u want to go into Windows or Ubuntu.

Hope u enjoy Ubuntu!:)
