hi,
i dont know what i did... but now its like this and i am not able to change the permissions or delete it.. how do i do it... pls help...

Login as root and do
cd /whatever/dir
chown USERNAME:USERNAME *
where USERNAME is your normal username ..
Should work. Strange why this problem occured :S

I think you should do that as root... Since you can`t login as nfsnobody... Use the root account and as he said change the USERNAME to your name not root...

it says.... nothing can be done except for recompiling the KERNEL :-o for such a small thing??? :-o

recompiling the kernel isn't such a big thing and in fact it is really good. You can have a look at gentoo docs on how to compile a kernel. Gives you a good idea. I once saw slackware kernel and realised how bloated these kernels are. Dunno about RH ones. But, it will be good to have your own kernel. I am sure you will find good tuts on that on the net.
