Hdd light blinking ! ! !

evenif my comp is idle, HDD red light is contantly ON or BLINKING asif i am working ...

Check if some service is running in background (It happened to be Indexing service for me)

HDD light glows when HDD is on work, if you are not working on it, then most probably some TSR is running.

It means:

-Running Services in Background
-Some virus active in background
-Your HDD gone crazy

For first, Run task manager and check for processes that do not belong to the list(you will need experience for that), and stop the unnecessary ones.

For second, scan your hard drive with your favourite AV and remove any infected files. If nothing shows up, use HijackThis and remove thw infected files. Download :http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html
(It should be probably the second, cause I had the same prob).

maybe it is the indexing service tht is going on in the background!
try disabling it and then c.

U can also post the screenshot of the Task Manager, so that we can identify the cause...
