hi all ,

system configuration :

CPU : AMD Athlon 64 3700+
Motherboard : ECS RS482-m 1.0A
RAM : Kingston 512MB KVR400 DDR
OS : WinXPSP2 and WinXP 64 bit

Problem :

My computer runs fine under normal conditions, but shuts down
when any CPU intensive activity is performed.

what could be the reasons ???

I have checked the RAM but it is OK !

Other considerations that might help :

1> there is no thermal paste on my heat sink, could it be the reason
2> my SMPS is only 400W it could be the reason ??

regards,

~rd

Overheating, thats the reason.
Clean your CPU fan & make sure its free from dust etc.
You can check the rpm to determine if its running properly or not.
If you dont have a Graphics card, a 400W SMPS is more than sufficient.

does u r cabinet have a gud colloing solution with an intake air fan in the front of your cabinet and an air let out at the back of your system. hence you shuld have atleast two fans other than the ones of the processor and the smps for a gud cooling
