Hanging problem with optical drive

almost every time my pc hangs after putting a cd in my drive. so i often have to restart my pc.it is most common with autoplaying cd's.

Are the CDs u use in good condition??The problem may be that the CD s are scrached ////\//\/\/\\\\\\\\\\\\////

if it's with all cd's ... something is wrong with ur drive....

if it's some specific CD, conclude the CD is corrupt

Check if DMA is enabled (device manager -> IDE/ATAPI controllers).
