both are system folders that u should'nt touch...
Common files are where the system files common to most software are stored...like files which are common to office (I think)
uninstall information is exactly what it says...it stores uninstall information for installed software !
they r red hot dont touch them or ur pc may go doomed!!!

Deleting them may cause chaos on your PC.
Common files has stuff from Norton, Adobe etc etc..
And uninstall info is info needed to uninstall programs like program paths etc.
Dont mess with them.

Deleteling...the Common File may result in uncorrect working of the software or the software would not even start(incase.some DLL File is Missin).,.....and Deleting..Uninstall information would not allow you to unstall the software properly..............
SO Y DO U WANT TO TOUCH THOSE STUFF huh??
Keep :D

If you want to free up your drive space, you might try deleting/moving your C:\Windows\System32\dllcache folder
Also if you installed SP1 manually, then you'll also have an i386 folder which is safe to delete
