hi man.

How many hard drives you have? are you connecting your DVD writer to secondary?
It happens when you load your PC too much!! If you have two hard drives
and then you are connecting your DVD writer then XP will not LOAD!! It happened to me.
1.Dont try to connect your hard drive and DVD writer on same IDE cable.
2.In case of multiple hard drives, try removing the one without OS and then connect your DVD writer!!

look at the back of the two optical drives(DVD/DVD Writer) and check the jumper settings...
make one of them as primary master and the next as primary slave ... as 915gav dont have secondary IDE slot !

thats the main culprit of u not able to boot...
dont interfere with SATA drives, they are working fine..!!
