XP Pro keeps restarting! Please help!

hey everyone,
for a few days, whenever i click on the Turn Off button after logging in into my account my computer shuts down and then mysteriously restarts and runs a Checkdisk. only after the Checkdisk is over does my computer turn off eventually.

if someone knows how to solve this problem, then please help.

- try running chkdsk /r from recovery console for all the drive u have . in administrator run defrag too
- after ur system is scanned does it go into xp and then shutdown or scanned and turns off right away ?
- check event viewer for any errors
- any other s/w or h/w u might have installed ?

check the disk using all the options from my computer
your system will tell that your root drive cannot be checked now and it need to be checked at startup, allow it to do so. and restart your computer. let the chkdsk run and complete.
if this does not solves your problem just give your hardware details and software details
