ripping is copying songs from a cd to ur comp i guess,dis feature is thre in wmp 10.codecs are kind of small upgrades for ur muzic playa so dat u can play various audio/video formats.....
like for wmp there is real alternative and quicktime alternative which allow u to play real and quciktime formats in wmp itself.
