like people have asked please provide details of your motherboard. Only then can we tell if there is a possible upgrade path

there are three types of proc sockets for AMD

U have to go for either Sempron 64bit or Athlon 64bit as an upgrade. If u want u can go for sempron 2400+ 32bit processor but its performance will be same as Athlon 2000+.Athlon will perform much better than sempron. So there is no point in going for Sempron 2400+ 32bit.
SO u shud go for Athlon 64bit / Sempron 64bit.For this upgrade u have to change your motherboard also.

i think u have socket A mobo. So there is no point in going for sempron 2400+ or 2600+ cpus.
Even i have socket a mobo and i cannot find any 2800+ or higher cpu in mumbai.
