I've one Compaq Presario 2202M Laptop, with Win XP pro, SP2. Unfrtunately my system crashed last week n i need to reinstall windows & all other applications. But I've few file & folders Encrypted earlier through windows. But now after reinstalling windows I cant able to access those files & folders and even not able to decrypt it. whenever i'm trying to decrypt those files one error message pops out which says "ERROR APPLYING ATTRIBUTES" An error occured applying attributes to the file. "file name" Access is denied. If i click on Ignore button it doesnt help at all.
So, Please help me to solve the problem & show me the way to restore those Attiributes back & enable me to get back those files.

Hi,
you need to firstly *take ownership of object* and after that you will be able to decrypt it.

Hi,
to achieve this , you need to first Right Click on your Folder then Click on Properties -> go to security Tab -> go to advance -> go to Owner Tab and then add your user to their (which should be with administrative privillege)
or if it not works
Right Click on your Folder then Click on Properties -> go to security Tab -> go to advance -> go to permission / effective permission and then set permission to deny on evey permission check box
now apply and close all properties then try to access it and after that do as suggested earlier , it will works.
:-)
