XP shutdown command should do it it you spend some time.

If you need another software, then switchoff (http://yasoft.km.ru/eng/switchoff/) is best for that job.

I use Shutdown Machine. Extremely small in size and very easy to use. It has the option to force shutdown as well.

Its free and with no limitations. Download it here (http://www.download.com/Shutdown-Machine/3000-2344_4-10138258.html?tag=lst-0-1).

U can create a Shutdown shortcut using the 'shutdown -s -t 00' command and then use the Task Scheduler to set the time of execution.

I know a guy who has an esoteric setup using an alarm clock and a hotwired power switch. Based on the time set on the alarm clock, the mobo gets a switch off command which causes XP to shut down. Don't try this at home
