Which 1s Best Windows XP or Windows 98

HI guys this is my 1st post i would like to know which i best OS XP or 98
i surf the internet all day n nite long n have a formatting 1nce in a month n also play lots of games n have all lots of softwares installed
i m in this confusion as 1 of my frnd says that XP is good with no problems n the other says that 98 is good then XP as XP is not good with internet security n can have a catch of virus

Windows XP with SP2 is much better as 98 is now outdated besides what is this post doing in this section {HW Troubleshooting} plz be careful with ur further posts if u dont want to be reported early..

i'd say win98 for games (is very light on system)...winxp sp2 for net (is more secure than win98)

XP is better anyday given you have got enough RAM. If you have less RAM than of course you should go for 98. But, realistically RAM now hardly costs that much.

XP+SP2 beats 98 hands down. :lol: XP interface is much better and XP is faster if u have enuf RAM and no compatibility issues with new softwares(though there are some with old ones :roll: ) and if u r a game maniac then 98 really sux :evil: But if u r still on a P3(or for that matter a P2 :( wonder if anyone has a P1 even 2day :shock: ) with 128MB(or 64) RAM 98 is better coz it runs faster!!!! :wink:

Definitely XP for games especially the recent ones which dont support 98. But if u like Emulator based games and ur h/w is very low (of the <810 age) , then 98 is the one for u coz XP+SP2 might make it toil too much :(

Windows XP SP2 is better even if you have about 128MB RAM. Windows 98 is 7 years old and just think what has happened to the harware and software. Hardwares are becoming obsolete in few years or should i say few months and to run new softwares latest harware is required along with latest OS. In few months time you should replace Windows XP for Windows 98 in the poll.

.My dad bought me a pIII cpu with win98 istalled. It was pretty cool then..ten years back. okay bottom line here is that most hardware and software manufacturers don't care a s*** about 98 anymore. SP 2 came out and the whole computing world changed too. Example, sata hard drives don't support win98.

voting for xp...with sp2 u got no probs regardin spys n viruses....just be updated with spywares n anti-virus if ur a net savy. rest dunt bother...98 lacks compabibility these days with latest launches. i had sx sp1. got screwed with spys...so now kinda happy wit sp2 n 98 as backup..

Besides, Microsoft ends support for Windows 98 and Windows ME in June 2006.

microsoft has officially stopped support for windows 98 and all manufacturers are concentrating on xp. many drivers are not available for 98 any more. to gauge how old 98 is think microsoft has released 3 oses after it and now [hopefully] this year vista will be launched. bringing the count to four.
most games work without a hitch on xp. new games in fact dont run on 98. to top it all to find a new box of 98 would be near immpossible as it dosnt retail in stores any more.

no doubt xp is the best......... but if u have an ancient computer........ or less ram(say 128 mb) then u can't think of installing xp......... i knw ppl who hav such systems and they can't really afford to install xp.......... for every1 else........... xp is the best

agree 98 is comfortable wit low end pcs...rest is for xp...it not only has advantage of detecting hardwares n installing them without a fuzz but it also makes full utilisation of ur agp card esp if itsa onboard agp....sp2 is kool....though u need to keep it updated....so cant leave it alone

security...thats all i guess....but thats gud enuf reason to go for it....i got screwed wit sp1 as spywares n virus almost ate my pc like termites in wood...i had nottin left ....only option was to format...so esp if ur using internet....sp2 is must n trust me on that.

man, 98 is uncomparable to xp because

1. 98 loads slower than xp
2. xp's task manager is far away than the primitive 98
3. surf the net in xp and feel the difference
4. turn off all the beauty in xp and you'll see the juice that can be squeezed.

well folks, need not compare xp wit 98....they come from same parent..microsoft....so if microsoft has released xp after 98, me, 2000 etc....they mean they have launched their newer versions of os wit benifits....so xp is d advanced version of 98 (u can say dat indirectly)...need not compare those two...or if u do u may also compare pentium 2 wit pentium 4....

Yes but if u have a low end system 98 is best for gaming.....
