The Issue what i got is priced at Rs 200 and Printed as Subscriber copy. Hence i should get all the contents accompanied with the magazene at no extra cost when the same magazene is available for 200 rupees to other buyers with all these extra contents. Otherwise let the so called DIGIT give me a magazene which is printed as priced at Rs 100 or Rs 125.

CONSUMER COURT

1. DIGIT has declared that SUBSCRIBERS WILL BE PROTECTED FROM FUTURE PRICE HIKES AND ANY SPECIAL ISSUES PRICED HIGH THAN THE REGULAR MAGAZENE in all their previous issues for the purpose of availing subscription. and now if they ask for additional money for whatsoever is the reason it is like cheating the subsdriber and they have all valid reasons to go to CONSUMER COURT as it will be a lesson for all.

2. Even after getting Rs 50 they have to send the gifts again by courier or post which involves some cost which could have been saved by them and will not get enough from the subscribers.

So KAYSQUARE let me also join with you in the opinion to goto CONSUMER COURT and similar subcribers also can stand united and PROVE WHOM WE ARE TO DIGIT.

Final Conclusion:
I'll send in the cheque as I think that this is only time investment and am desperate to get the movie dvd.
But I really don't like the idea of paying the 25 rs as my cheque is outstation cheque. :(

Digit should apply different srategy,
digit should not pack all goodies in one month, rather divide the goodies over a period of time. This would result in cost reduction as well as happy subscribers/ Newsstand buyers. :lol:
And a surprise is always welcome.

Avoid printing high profile models photos if it increases the cost a lot. :?

The issue is not as bad as you guys have promoted it. surely there are dozens of ads, but they need to have them to survive in the market.

Anyways fast track series is about to end (10 out of 12 issues are out).
This would surely cut the costs. Hope they plan to continue it for some more time as these are really informative. and include the pdf's of the previous issues please.

Hi all!

Been following Digit for few months though :( to say irregularly. This month's issue was great but my heart flinched a bit for 200/-, but it was worth it.

All your articles were really great!!! And what I liked even more was the amount of content! I spent some 6 hours reading and understanding. (Talk about slow fellows like me :oops: !) At least for me there was no problem with either DVD or CD!

Your guide to gaming was more about heavy multiplayers online games! Though I agree that cities are now having good internet connections but these are few! But more schocking was your one paragraph on flash games!!! I think they deserve more consideration!

:arrow: I did not find the old digit pdfs though inside the book you said they were! :?: And about AoE3, I installed it in another drive and tried the update but it did not work; so what to do?

All in all things are good, but I just feel you are slowly going away from average users and readers. Still, your's is a wonderful magazine and am very happy to buy it.

A 'Digit'ised addict! :wink:

P.S: Oh yes, and what had Sania to do with this? :wink:

it is really bad on your part to subscriber like me, it is very unfair that i have to pay 50Rs for 2 extra, subscriber is supposed to get benefit from inflation,rate increasing,etc
but it is all new strange tht your company had decided to charge subscriber it is reallly bad on your policy...

and found tht Terminator 2 is not on single dvd instead it is being clubbed with other which is again not good idea. i hope u better off with simple special pack with better contents.

what is more worst tht for subscriber who had order the extra cds, you had sent the cds content in pathetic envelope instead of better jewel case it will be BETTER for some subscriber if they want to buy extra CDs at the extra COST!

more so, in news-stand, there is always it come with some jewel-case for cover of dvd or cd or whatsoever, i m not concerned with this, it might give justice to newstand, but it is grave justice to subscriber as u had mentioned that subscriber has benefit from inflation, etc, actually it is news-stand user had great benefit. hope you learn this way for coming new year, never do it again.....

This month issue is a good one but I`m really upset that Price of Digit is increasing month by month but the quality of pages is really bad.I think they should do something about it . :evil: :evil:

Also Digit People you have made a big mistake on the last page 224 of Article
"THE FIRST AMENDMENT ,NOW FOR SCHOOLKIDS"
the conversion of dollor is wrong its $(US)117,500 equal to Rs5.17lakhs Abig mistake

Now Some complain about October issue :No Sony network walkman in comparision with I-pod .. :evil:

1.. How is the ordered DVD being packaged ? R u giving a proper DVD case ? R there 1 or 2 DVDs ?

2.. When is the last date of ordering ?

3.. Will "at par" cheques be taken ? It will save Rs. 25 for non Mumbai people.

Based on the replies I would decide whether to order..

Raaabo, it is right that one should not compare DIGIT to other magazine in this forum as per the rule but chippy is just furstrated just like some of us, so don't take it seriously. And by the way it is too late to argue about the december issue.
But I think that Raaabo and TEAM DIGIT must have looked into the controversy and whatever problems faced by the subscriber and newstand buyers and would seriously try to solve it. Specially the late delivery of magazine to the subscribers, plz make sure that the january issue reaches subscriber on time. Thanks.

Hell , I havent got my magazine yet.
It happens every month for the last 2-3 months.
Earlier I used to get my Mag in first week of the month.
But now , Its always a loooooong wait .
Even I had called to their Mumbai office on 11th and they said my issue has been dispatched four days before and will be reaching anytime.
But I m still waiting.
Now I wish , I should not have subscribed to digit.
There is no use of getting the Mag so late as by that time I had already read the Mag from my friends or my college library.
But then the point is , What is I m benefitting from Subscription.Hence I have dropped the idea of my renewal.
I used to love Digit but now I m afraid I couldnt continue that...

Why Sir? Are you yellow or something? Can't stomach an unbiased view?
All I had written in that post was that instead of giving cheap trinkets along with the subscription, Digit would do well to give subscription at concessional rates. I subscribe the magazine for content and not for frebees ( Unless freebees are of sufficeintly good quality to really matter).

It is bad form to quote exaggerated prices of the freebees. Do you all think that the readers of the Digit are all dumb? I can understand your compulsions to promote some products but please do it judiciously, that is , by giving the subscribers freedom of choice. What will I do with a camera which is of no use to me.

That is why I opted to renew my subscription for one year only, because I really like to read the magazine and the booklet and would like to keep getting it regularly. The CD/DVD s are also good.

I hope that the next offer will be smarter.

Digit Team Left No Stone Unturned? WHO THE HELL TOLD YOU TO PRINT SANIA MIRZA'S PIC ON THE COVER? You could have saved money by simply printing some digital art made by your team & could give the stuff to the subscribers. Some other members have also posted similar views. I don't need that stuff but you kicked the butt of your subscribers. By the way your magazine has become a cr@p. Compare it with Chip. I made the wrong decision of subscribing to digit.

Sania Mirza was gracious enough to accept being on our cover because the Zero1 awards highlight the best in their field in India. We decided on a sports theme, and the obvious choice was Sania, as she is the highest ranked Indian tennis player. It's sort of like trying to emphasize the whole "champions" thing.

Even if we got one of the biggest bollywood stars or the highest paid sportsman/woman on our cover, the payment would have not even been close to the losses we would have to incur by giving 40,000 subscribers the movie DVD for free.

You guys demanded a movie, we gave it to you but for an extra price, which is solely your choice. It would be helpful if someone would tell me what the exact price of a legal copy of terminator 2 costs in the market!

I have asked people to follow the forum rules, but you are crossing boundaries by mentioning competitor magazines. Perhaps you should look more closely at their offerings over the next few months, compare it to ours and then decide.

If you say that the magazine sucks I would appreciate feedback as to what you liked and what you didn't. Simply saying look at X they're better! is not helping. If you would be so kind as to elucidate I would be very grateful. Remember, no comparisons please, just suggestions for digit. Afterall this IS the feedback thread and it's what I was expecting to see here.

Firstly before I start to comment, I would like to make it clear that whatever I am going to state in the followings lines must me taken as suggestions and NOT any comparision with other mags please.

Ok so, u mean to say that you/your company paid Rs 299/- each to acquire that DVD from the market and you are bundling that with the mag for FREE ? :?: This doesn't get digested.

So here is the low down on it. You people first go find sponsers for your mag and persuade companies other than yours to sponser products for low price purchase scheme with your mag. So, this people can earn some FREE advertisement and future programs/Carnivals guest invitees (like SKOAR! Lan party). Secondly this people can reach to wider array of customers accross India.

Now, you will ask how a DVD can help a company advertise in this case.
You have bundled Discovery shoot out with the DVD so, the Discovery people could be your sponsers in this case.

However, I agree that they might have not provided the DVD content FREE to you/your company but might have charged minimum, say Rs 50 or so. (NOTE: This is suggestive only). Hence, comparing the Terminator DVD with the one available in the market does not make any sense at all.

But yes, I appreciate your efferts to bring this DVD to bundle with the mag however.

Now, A little about Sania Mirza.

Well to say the list, a Sports Theme does not fit anywhere in a Tech Mag, be it competion highlight or Awards highlight. Instead why don't you fit in Bill Gates ? :?: He has got competetors lurking around him and he still the most successful man in the TECH WORLD. I don't criticise Linux or Mac, but you know better then me what really works in the DESKTOP section of most offices---- Microsoft., easy to configure, easy to learn, easy to work with..... that makes him successful. So, you can't you highlight his ++ to inspire developers do the correct jobs of developing easy to use softwares. (I don't say Linux of Mac is hard to use)

And yes, there is another angle to it. The money you paid to Sania Mirza could have been well utilized to give away the DVD FREE to the subscribers, after all they are your assets and not the newstand buyers. (that's my logic)

It takes time to build Assets for any company , be it your customers, your staff, anyone for that matter, and this needs to be taken seriously. You can't risk loose a good staff on your roll, just b'coz he took a leave for 5 days without informing his office b'coz there was an emergency. I hope you get my point.

dude to tell u newstand buyers are more faithful than the subscribers who start talking as they have to pay 75 extra(in case of outside mumbai) and who pay only 66 or sumthing for mag. We bought it for 200 and buy regular ones for hundred u can never say that only subscribers are there assets

Hey , What is this? :roll: Do you mean to say that a man spending Rs. 200 for a one night stand is more faithful to his (changeable) partner than a regularly married guy who once in a while has some sharp exchanges with his long time partner?

One thing I have observed in this thread is that people have been too much critical about the issue of what should be on the cover of Digit. It is a very subjective thing and it is useless to try to convince sombody as to what is good to have on the cover.

I would like to have a booklet fully dedicated to PHOTOSHOP, in Digit's typical user friendly language and of course, a 'smarter' subscription offer next time

A guy who compares a magazine to a mans relations truely has some issues anyways i dont get the hang of such things easily but one thing according to sales figure or even simple maths i can say is subcribers pay less and we pay more nothing else

Oh God, as a newbie I thought there would be something more exciting on the feedback. We buy from the street regularly and then decide to subcribe one day...period. And digit knows that. Hey Digit staff, I loved the issue and the movie...and do put sania or whoever you think fit on the cover...and do carry more stuff on buying guides and ergonomics...may be the stuff available in India and not just pictures of some ergo keyborads and mice and Herman Miller like chairs.

To share my experience-

I had the biginner's luck with the contest and won a camera in my first try. Later I entered in many more digit contests without winning a straw. Then I figured that the probablity of winning is becoming lesser and lesser because of more and more participants entering into the contest. Then I just stopped paying attention to the contest altogether treating it as just another lottery.

One thing about that Motocross Madness game. It installes a "spyware" called DSSAGENT. The file will be present in %Windir%\Bbstore folder.

AdAware has given a "threat" rating of 8 out of 10!

Here's an info about this:
DSSAGENT is a tool that lets software developers push a new splash screen into a program at any time, e.g. for bug reports and product updates--but I think it's probably more centered around advertising :( This program has been seen most often bundled with children's software titles from Mattel Interactive/Broderbund. I have also had a report of the module being installed by AOL 6.0 and hammering the DNS server with "MILLIONS" of requests for www.brodcast.net.

An (apparently) discontinued spyware product of Brøderbund Software. Bundled with most Brøderbund and Learning Company titles until April, 2002.A desktop computer running DSSAgent might send over 10,000 DNS requests in 15 minutes, slowing network traffic. There are reports that it slows CPU processing as well.

Did in my any post i say that i m disatisfied from being a newstand buyer i guess not we all have our reasons and premsharma the arguement is not about why or why dont we subscribe, its about him saying that newstand buyers are not digit assets.

I do not think that they think as asset of news stand buyers, otherwise, they would not have forced rs 200 issue. they could have given choice to buy without game & movie for rs 125. But such choice was not given to news stand buyers. Basically, they think that news stand buyers are a lot where they can enforce new policies and recover the cost of providing a movie & game if the subs cribers do not respond in large numbers.

I don't it was an issue to subscriber because they had option decide either way. For subscriber, it was as simple as don't take those extra useless stuff. I am having this useless game & useless movie. I can give it to any one free of cost. Just provide me Rs 25 for courier charges

Let's forget this issue & concentrate on future issues. Digit archiving software and present interface is of prime importance.

i didnt find old 12 issues of digit on CD or DVD, as it is mentioned in the book that DVD is accompanied with old issues in pdf format.

yup. i cant find the pdf version of the old issues. can someone tell me where are they? 'm desperate t read ALL the 12 issues AT ONCE :)
