External Harddisk not detected

Purchased IBM 40 GB external hard disk drive(USB) . But when i plugged it into the USB port, it was instlled and detected by windows xp but the drive is not shown in the my computer. what's the problem, is the drive faulty. or am i doing something wrong. i even restarted my pc but the drive is not shown in the my computer.

go to disk management and check for the drive

if u find it there u can easily make it show up in my computer

disk manager is in

admin tools :arrow: comp management :arrow: storage :arrow: disk management

and also check in the device manager !!!!

The drive might be not formated, do as the Vijay told u to go to diskmanagement and format it, then ut will appear in yr explorer
