I m planning to buy a new laptop but except budget nothing has been decided. The budget is Rs.40000. I m planning to get it from the U.S

The laptop should have atleast 512 ram, wi-fi, gud no. of usb and other ports, dvd writer, graphics card, etc.

I would like to know what is the best poss. config. i can get. I'l mainly be using the laptop for office work and then for gaming ( unreal 2005, igi-2, max payne 2, etc.) I have already got doom 3 and i want a laptop which can do atleast some justice to doom3 by letting me play it a 30+fps at whtever resolution...

2nd thing i wud like to know is about global warranty... will i be able to avail of free warranty in india if i have purchased the sys. frm the U.S coz i have seen nokia buyers from abroad suffer... Plz help

As far as warranty goes, it varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. And regarding your Doom 3 requirement, I doubt that any laptop under 40k will do justice to the game. At best, you will get the Intel GMA900 or a low end Radeon - I don't think any laptop under that price will give a decent graphics card. You can take a look at Dell's laptops - they don't come with international warranty I guess. The Dell Inspiron 6000 is a good option but check if it comes with an international warranty. Acer also has some laptops in your price range but only with the GMA900.

if you have some people you can get it delivered to in the US, i very much recomend looking at the dell and compaq websites for the US...they let you costomize the comupter to suit ur need and budget...even worldwide warranty...ur budget of 1000$...u might also check the circuit city website and best buy...they might have really good offers...i recoomend a google search for the best online stores in the US
