hi guyz

last time when i booted my computer i got the errror msg "default:checksum error".but then i pressed the key "F1" to continue and my computer started normally.
i just want to ask why dis happened.Is their any problem with the mobo or sumthing else is wrong?

my system configurations are:
pentium 4 processor 1.6 ghz
motherboard name: octek rhino P4m266a-m4p
award bios type: pheonix award bios v6.00pg
two sdram chips 128mb pc133 each
80 gb harddisk

Change the little coin size CMOS battery in ur mobo.
Thats the solution :D

There is no problem in ur mobo or nething, so don't worry...

Till then u can press F1, no problem.
But all the BIOS settings will be set to their defaults values and time also...

vishal is rite .. ur battery has been drained out. change it or else ur bios settings will be reset everytime u boot ur pc.

thax mohit and vishal for the support.u guyz solved my prob.


can u people tell me generally how long this drained battery can be used coz i think dat reseting of bios settings is not a major prob.does it effects other hardwares in the computer.

It can be used thru out ur system life :D

Actually if u pull out the battery, even then ur system will boot and work w/o ne problem!

But its advisable to replace it with a new one...

Yes your comp will work without the battery but remember when you create new MS Word file a time stamp is also created for it and u may face problem in the future with your documents not opening in your friends comp. So, better replace the battery
