My question is related with USB Flash Drive (Pen Drive). Somebody told me that formating a flash drive reduces its size by 1MB. I didn't believe and tried, and to my suprise the size did reduced by 1MB.
Can anybody have any idea why this is happenning? :?:

No problem with me. I have formatted my flash drive many times. The size remains same.

I have a EXIGo 256 MB Flash Drive. The original capacity it shows up was 252 MB. After formating it showed 251 MB.
Can somebody post their effective capacities

The space u find missing is taken up by the file system (FAT32/NTFS) so nothing to worry about.
